Seems like I'm jumping on the Bloggers-Christmas Bandwagon a lot slower than everyone else. The reason for this is that I've been shifting around a lot lately (turns out this time of year isnt a good time to start a new job in a new place!). Look, this has been my scheduel since the week before Christmas: Start job on Monday, go home for weekend, come back for second Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday home because of public holiday, work on Thursday and Friday, home for weekend (where I currently am) and then next Monday it's back to the city for the day, then Mandurah for Tuesday. Hopefully after that life will begin to look normal. Oh did I mention I work alien hours that mean I'm home two hours before anyone else and my entire sleep cycle is out of whack? Those of you who dont know it, home for me is two hours of driving in an air-conditionless car on a boring road. But by the end of the week I just have to get home. The city, while exciting and diverse and wonderful, is hot and stuffy and doesnt feel anything like a home. Everything I love and treasure is in the country, my animals, my family, my guitar and my beautiful piano. They all sit at home waiting for me to drive up our tree lined avenue and burst, sweaty and tired, back into their lives! Well, except for my family, they all have their own lives. And my cat, because, well, she's a cat. She waits for no one. Anyway, here are a few photos from my beautiful Australian Summer Christmas. Above Right - The most beautiful place on earth. Right - Mums Prawn and Mango salad. Seafood is pretty mandatory for Christmas dinner. Below Left - Christmas tunes. All I want for Christmas is a voice like that! Below Right - Mummy and Daddy, who wont like this photo being up. |
Left - Bulmers Pear Cider and Lemon Ice Water. Perfect for a hot Summers day. Below Left - Our Christmas star and some Lemon and Coriander for the Salads. Below Right - My Christmas candle; Ivy and Rivermint from ECO. I've been searching for months to find a candle that recreates the pine forests of Scotland for me, and when I found this I'm sure a heavenly chorus sang hallelujah. |
Christmas is my favourite time of year, it always has been, but this year it had a different element to it.
I've always been spiritual, I was brought up reading bible stories so I've known ever since I could understand it that Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
This year, however, I truly lived this celebration. While I thoroughly enjoyed the presents and the food and the good times spent in the pool with my loved ones, my mind was always on the amazing story of the donkey ride to Bethlehem, the crowded inn and the humble beginnings of, in my opinion, the greatest man to ever walk this earth. I also spent a lot of time in refection of his sacrifice for me. And you.
Ok, no one likes a preacher so thats all I'll say on the matter, but I couldnt let this blog post go without sharing my true feelings this Christmas.
I'll just share a few more snaps of my day and then I'm off to enjoy the hours of sunlight where I dont have to work in an office!
Merry Belated Christmas guys!
